Recreation Leaders for a Children’s Summer Recreation Program (FunRec) (2010) - Position: Now Hiring
Full Time Summer Contract
The Northeast Burnaby Community Association (NEBCA) is now interviewing for 5 positions of Recreation Leader for the Fun Rec Day Camp program, based out of Stoney Creek Community School in Burnaby.
Contract Period
- May 31st to August 13th, 2010**
- Full-time (40 hours/week)
- $14.00/hour
Qualifications
Prospective candidates for either position must have been enrolled in fulltime studies at a college/university/trade school for the past year and be returning to fulltime studies again this September. Candidates must have related experience working with children, proven leadership skills and an understanding of the stages of children development. First Aid skills an asset (or willing to obtain).
Job Description
- work as a team to plan and implement a 6-week program for approximately 80 children/week
- plan age-appropriate activities, incorporating ideas from a variety of areas such as crafts, circle time, out-trips, cooking, story time, sports, quiet activities, scavenger hunts, songs, games, adventures
- undergo training in areas of behaviour management, First Aid, conflict resolution, etc.
- assist in registration
- Carry out cash control functions, under the supervision of the Liason Officer and NEBCA treasurer
- help assemble supplies and maintain appropriate inventory
- supervise children in recreation activities, manage behaviours of children within the group
- attend week staff meetings
- evaluate the program
