Project Manager for a Children’s Summer Day Camp Program (2005) - Position: Now Hiring

Full Time Summer Contract

The Northeast Burnaby Community Association (NEBCA) is now interviewing for an experienced person to organize and implement a quality recreational program (Fun Rec) for children aged five to thirteen. Fun Rec is a very successful summer camp for young children which has been running in Northeast Burnaby for the past 22 years. The Project Manager is responsible for the administration and day-to-day running of the Program, and compliance with the written policy, procedure and expectations of NEBCA.

Contract Period

  • Approx. March 17th to August 16th, 2005
  • Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • $14.00/hour + Vacation (4%)

Qualifications

The Project Manager should have completed 2nd or 3rd year University/College and be entering University/College or trade school in September of this year. He/She should have proven experience in program planning and behaviour management. They must be an analytical thinker, be able to handle organizational and management problems, as well as communication and computer skills, first aid, and proven leadership skills. They must be honest and fair.

Job Description

  • Assist the Liason Officer in the hiring of 11 staff members
  • Train 11 staff members
  • Organize and implement a quality recreational program for children aged five through thirteen
  • Supervise public relations and deal directly with parents
  • Carry out cash control functions, under the supervision of the Liason Officer and NEBCA treasurer
  • Supervise program and staff
  • Supervise program and staff Organize and supervise the Special Needs Program (for special needs children to be integrated into Fun Rec) and the Rec ‘N Read program (a child literacy program run during the first 4 weeks of Fun Rec)
  • Evaluate program and leaders regularly
  • Supervise registrations

Coordinator/Sponsorship Position

Part Time Contract (Not taking Applications at this time)

The Northeast Burnaby Community Association (NEBCA) is now interviewing for an organized and experienced person to fill the dual roles of (1) Volunteer coordinator for the Fun Rec Day Camp at Stoney Creek Community School in Burnaby, and (2) Sponsorship coordinator to obtain financial assistance from local businesses to finance the charitable community work undertaken by NEBCA.

Annual Contract

  • Fun Rec volunteer co-ordination – May through August only
  • Fundraising – year-round
  • Approx 100 to 125 hours per annum
    $12.00/hour
  • Some evening commitments

Qualifications

Must have Experience: Training and management of the volunteer group for projects, interviewing, running and reporting on meetings

Useful Experience: previous fundraising experience is not essential – more important is an ability to plan and implement imaginative fundraising strategies

Job Description

  • Responsible for the organization and quality of volunteers at the Day Camp program
  • Plan and implement fundraising activities for NEBCA
  • Report to the NEBCA Board
  • Coordinate with the NEBCA treasurer, Fun Rec Project Manager and the Stoney Creek School Coordinator
